Weekly Bin Collection | |
1) What if we got the Council to bring back weekly bin collections ?
From 1st February 2012 local councils may now apply for a grant from a pot of £250 Million should they wish to return to weekly Bin collections. Imagine...No more having to force 2 weeks worth of bin bags into a wheely bin and trying to close the lid onto compressed bins to the point of catapulting cats and food into the air like some medieval weapon. No more having to pile bing bags away from cats whilst the hot sun carries the smell of rotting Chicken across the Garden like an eu de cologne attracting all the vermin into the neighbourhood. No more having to pile rotting bin bags into the boot to take them to the tip. Imagine.

3) What if we used the land next to the Railway Station for a permanent Market Hall ?

JOB DONE!!!
Given the right incentive, such as a grant for restoration, some enterprising group could rent it , from Spacia, for A3 use.

Frodsham Cut | |
5) What if we re-opened Frodsham Cut and developed the Frodsham Wharves on the Weaver?
The Frodsham Cut & Lock was originally closed in 1944 and has been closed to craft ever since. Access to Frodsham by boat is currently restricted to entry from the Manchester Ship Canal, as far as the stone bridge carrying the A56. There is not currently an obvious attractive "destination point" for recreational boaters heading down the Weaver Navigation, although Weston Marsh Lock and the Weston Point Docks are of interest to those who like industrial heritage. However, what if we re-opened Frodsham cut and re-developed the Frodsham wharves on the Weaver, perhaps with mooring facilities for boaters to stop overnight before returning and perhaps attracting boater interest in the market town? Sadly, the realities of this are that there would be major dredging, repointing, new Lock, Sluice gate, a complete diversion of BT lines, Gas lines, Electricity Lines, water utility pipes and planning permission from Bradley Orchard, Frodsham Watersports and major coordination between British Waterways, the town council, Northwest Development Agency, Cheshire County Council, Chester and Cheshire West Council and other interested parties with total costs in excess of £1.5 Million. Still we can dream, can't we? |
Frodsham Cycle Track | |
6) What if we build a cycle track from Eddisbury to Helsby School?
Obviously, as our Main A56 road is like a Grand Prix racetrack these days, with lots of dangerous overtaking, no schoolchild on a bike, would feel safe cycling from Frodsham to Helsby School on such a busy road. However, what if an off-road - tarmac cycle track was developed from the back of Eddisbury Square to follow the railway line and arrive just behind Helsby car park next to Godscroft Lane?
You can almost cycle to Helsby now - via Marsh Lane and Hare's Lane (on the other side of the railway line) but, there is no direct link to Hartley Lane due to private land blocking what would otherwise be a direct route, so it's an otherwise long ride before you join Godscroft lane and Helsby School. This is far too long and though lonely lanes - not very friendly.
We'll put that one on ice.
